I've never trusted snowmen since I was a kid. April was unusually warm, and my winter snowman had melted leaving a pile of dry grass clippings where he had stood. I was seven years old and in bare feet, and there was only one thing to do. I took a run-up from the far end of the garden and kicked into the clippings as hard as I could - and broke a toe on the pyramid of beautifully-insulated ice in the middle of it.
Sorry to say I'm not much of a poet. Those are the lyrics to a Simon and Garfunkel song. (Bridge Over Troubled Water) Except for the last line. Thanks for the comment though.
